Brief Description
Letter and envelope from Percy R Manson
a) Letter from Percy R Manson to his mother. Written in Palestine and dated 12 May 1917. The letter reads:
Dear Mother
Just a few lines to let you know I received your most & ever welcome letter dated 26 March. Very pleased that you are keeping in the best of health & hope you will continue to keep so. I have been keeping alright so far. The weather is getting very hot now & the flies are getting very thick again. I see by your letter that Walter is in camp & is expected home on his final leave in April, so I suppose he has been home by now. How is Clive getting on up the Main Trunk Line. I suppose he has grown quite fat by now. The war does not look like if it is coming to an end yet, but I think with America into it she might make a difference when she has her army ready. I had a letter from W Clark & new form for an allotment to be made out as the old one is not any good now Papa is dead. Well I think I will close now as we have no news to tell you. Hoping this will find you in the best of health.
I am Your loving son
Percy R Manson.
b) Military issue envelope with green stripes labelled for use on active service. Addressed to Mrs S Manson.
