Brief Description
Letter and envelope from Percy R Manson.

a) Letter from Percy R Manson to his mother. Written while on active service in Egypt and dated 20 September 1916.
Dear Mother,
Just a few lines to let you know I am keeping in the best of health so far, and hope you are keeping the same. I missed writing last week as we were away out in the desert and I had no writing paper as I left it in here, anyway I could not write as I had a bad hand. I cut it with a piece of tin and with the sand getting into it turned poison. I just received that cake Tot sent and it was very good although it was delayed for a long time never the less better late than never. I also received a couple of pairs of sock from Minnie Douglas and they were very good knitted by herself. The weather is not quite so hot now as we are having our Autumn over here, although it is as hot as hot day you get in Napier. Of course we get heavy dews at night here & it is fairly cold when we are out on a stunt with only one blanket. The war news is just about the same. I think we are having a little advantage in France now by what we here(sic) of course we don’t here(sic) much news here. How is that Rheumatic cure of yours. I hope it has cured you by now and that you are able to go for a walk down on the parade. Well I think I will have to close now as news is scarce here. Hoping this will find you in the best of health as it leaves me.
I am Your loving son
Percy R Manson
