Letter to George Stoddart Whitmore of Napier from James Crowe Richmond, dated 8 May 1869.
James Crowe Richmond writes of military manoeuvres around Lake Waikaremoana, and supplies at Wairoa, as well as mentioning that he is going to Wellington but is available to come back to Wairoa if needed. Also writes of politicians, most notably Julius Vogel, and the mention of reinforcements in the Times. The letter includes a sketch of the Lake Waikaremoana area. In post script James Crowe Richmond mentions the use of a rocket at Onepoto.
