Letter to George Stoddart Whitmore from John Hall of Wellington, dated 27 January 1869. John Hall writes that he has temporarily taken over Theodore Minet Haultain's position, that he objects to McDonnell's request for more Māori soldiers, that the Press continues to sully his name even after the victory at Ngatapa and wishes him luck on his new offensive in the Urewera region.
