About this object
Into the Dark - Maintenance fitter Maurice Johansen dons a gas mask and protective clothing as he prepares to enter a petrol tank, suspected of leaking, at Shell Oil's Battery Road depot in Napier today. Shell launched an investigation after an apparent loss of up to 30,000 litres of fuel from the tank was discovered earlier this month. The investigation later revealed the loss to be an accounting error. The bottom of the tank wll be X-rayed as part of the inspection.
