A scrapbook containing a series of articles written for the Star newspaper by retired civil servant Mr James Wilson about his experiences as an eight year old child when Te Kooti and the Hau-haus raided his home near Gisborne, killing his father and fatally injuring his mother.
The second half of the small book contains a newspaper article titled: Communicated exclusively to J R Sheehan for The Sun by Mrs Ngoungou, née Caroline Perrett, who was stolen by the Maoris from Lepperton, Taranaki in 1874, and discovered by her niece at Whakatane in 1929.
