About this object
Time to cut. Timber is tumbling this week on the Tangoio Soil Conservation Reserve. Standing beside a stack of felled lumber are Hawke's Bay Regional Council resource scientist Robin Black, and Tim Sandall from Carter Holt Harvey, the council's contractors for the job. The stand of trees in the background of the picture stands on the site of an old pa. The council consulted extensively with Tangoio Māori people and the Conservation Department before beginning the felling. The land will be allowed to regenerate with native trees.
