Brief Description
Booklet of New Zealand's Response to the Empire's Call. Pictorial booklet with images of New Zealanders organising to go to the Boer war.

The booklet has a poem on the cover page by Forrest Ross. The other pages of the book are mostly photographs: There is one of Sir Arthur Douglas [ Under Secretary of Defence ] and Lady Douglas at the training camp for the soldiers going to the Boer War, a view of the camp at Newtown Park, horses, Major Craddock, Colonel Penton, Lieutenant Colonel Sommerville standing by some tents, views of the men training, a view of the formal leavetaking of the men - photograph by Saroney Studio, Wellington, horses going onboard the ship.

There is also a photograph of the Earl of Ranfurly - Governor of New Zealand, Major Craddock, Colonel Penton - Commander New Zealand forces, R J Seddon, Major Robin - Commander of the first New Zealand Contingent.
