Registration papers, Star of the South.
Wooden steamer. British built at the New Castle on Tyne, County of England, 1863. Three masts; schooner; framework - iron. Measurements: 134.2 feet in length; 21.8 feet in breadth; 9.2 feet in depth. 202.52 tons.
Includes:
1. Declaration of ownership: Edward Pryor Houghton of Dunedin. Master of the Ship, Francis Holmes. 3 October 1872. Witnessed by J M Tabuteau.
2. Form of application by owner for transfer of the Registry of a ship, Edward Pryor Houghton, owner of Star of the South. 3 October 1872.
3. Declaration by joint owners or transferees attending together, William Lodder, Marine Engineer, Auckland and William Henry Palmer, Master Mariner, Auckland. The master of the vessel is William Henry Palmer. 8 November 1870. Witnessed by J M Tabuteau. (Written on the form is condemned by Court of Enquiry 25 June 1870.)
