Brief Description
Plan of Mangatahi settlement blocks for sale or selection.
BLocks IX, X, XIV and XV, Matapiro survey district.
Consists of 12,272 acres.
Land lots, survey boundaries and area sizes, ordinary farms and mixed land are situated around the Ngaruroro River, Mangatahi Stream, Aorangi Road and the Maraekakaho River. Maraekakaho Estate borders the land to the South, on the other side of the Maraekakaho River and the Olrig Estate borders the land on the West side near the Mangatahi Stream. J A MacFarlane neighbours the Maraekakaho Estate and settlement farms. M Walker has land at the North West tip , by the Ngaruroro River. Unreadable names appear in pencil on the plan.
Contents include: general description of Mangatahi Settlement; directions to applicants; schedules of sections, areas, and rentals; detailed descriptions of sections for disposal as ordinary farms; detailed descriptions of sections for disposal as farms of mixed agricultural and pastoral land; detailed descriptions of sections for disposal as suburban allotments; two maps - one a locality map.
The map has been affixed inside a booklet along with a newspaper clipping noting that Messrs Williams & Kettle Ltd have received instructions from the trustees in the estate of the late S McGaffin to sell at auction on Thursday March 27, 1907. Consisting of 328 acres held under the LIP rent and 95 acres on renewable lease. The area is situated 7 miles from Maraekakaho. The land is to be subdivided into 15 paddocks.
