Brief Description
The Hitchings Family Birthday Book is comprised of months and days. Beside each day is a verse.
The contents include signatures of people, many of whom are from Napier. Glued onto the opposite page or on the verse are photographs of people many of which are unidentified. However their names would be in the date the photograph is opposite. For example there is a photograph of Dr Thomas Hitchings opposite his name written on the date 25 May. Beside his name is his birth year as 1816. Interspersed through the book are newspaper cuttings such as the engagements, marriages and deaths.
Throughout the book there is information about the Hitchings family as well as photographs. There is also a great deal of information about Bella Hitchings or Belle Napier, actress and Hilda Hitchings who was a one-armed tennis champion.
