a) A letter from the Governor-General, B.C. Freyberg dated 16 May 1949 inviting Bestall to submit / confirm his name for an M B E honour. Typed on letterhead which features the Government House insignia. Addressed to L D Bestall, Esquire, M B E, Lighthouse Road, Napier.
b) A memorandum for recipients which is printed on paper with the Government House insignia detailing the schedule of the investiture ceremony and procedures. The ceremony was held at Government House Wellington, 5 October 1949.
