Brief Description
A series of letters from 1950 to 1952 from various acquaintances and also letters regarding children Leo and Mary Bestall were sponsoring and possibly adopting.
Letters regarding sponsorship and adoption of children:
a) One letter is by Ruth Kronenberg who was a German girl that the Bestall's met on their trip to England in 1950.
b) There is also an undated cablegram which reads: Vivian N Clark, Rhinesaren, Dusseldorf. Eva arrived Friday morning thanks for your help we are more than satisfied regards both Bestall. (Eva was another German girl that they were to sponsor and possibly adopt.)
There are also letters from various senders to the Bestall's:
c) To dear Leo (Bestall) from Violet, Christchurch, 23 September. The author mentions the arrival of their German protege but not which one and talks about general daily life.
d) To Leo Bestall from Ross, Pitcairn Island, 13 October 1951. The author details a trip to Pitcairn Island and daily life of the inhabitants.
e) From Leo Bestall to Basil Whitcombe, Wellington, 5 November 1951. Leo Bestall asked for advice as to whether Bestall's war account titled, Tea and Biscuits, is publishable.
f) Reply from Basil Whitcombe to Leo Bestall, 8 November 1951. The author replied that they would not be interested in publishing Tea and Biscuits.
g) To Bestall from Adrienne, France, 10 December 1951. The author details her work in Egypt and referring to people they both know there.
h) To Leo from M ?, Wellington, 8 January 1952. The author exchanges pleasantries.
