Brief Description
Photograph Album: From Papakura to Aleppo, Leo Bestall. One hundred and sixty-one pages of photographs mounted on paper in a lever arch folder. Interior of cover has military documentation for L D Bestall glued to it.
Title on first page is: From Papakura to Aleppo and Bestall Collection has been written in pencil in the top right corner. Handwritten past tense notes accompany the photographs which document Bestall's time at the Trentham Camp, on route to Egypt, the Maadi Camp near Cairo, with the Church Missionary Society, plus the tours that he took to the pyramids, Sakkara, Ismalia, Fayoum, up the Nile, Helwan, Luxor, Thebes, the Sudan, Palestine, Baalbek, Syria and Jerusalem. There are letters and 2 NZEF documents in the folder as well.
