Brief Description
Diary and Ephemera attributed to Leo Bestall dated October 1916 to July 1917. Leo Bestall begins the diary with his experiences on the Somme battlefield during World War I. Amongst the material is a telegram with two words written on it: Safe. Bestall. Within the diary are letters to his mother.

Ephemera includes examples such as a page on Don Harkness, letters to Badegg and his Dad and a Christmas card from 1 New Zealand Field Ambulance which has signatures written all over it.

Includes a divisional theatre programme dated 31 March 1917, postcards of war damage, a programme for the Australian divisional Pierrots dated 7 July 1917.

Includes photographs of people Leo Bestall knew and of himself.
