Brief Description
Diary and letter attributed to Leo Bestall, containing:
a) Extracts from a diary of a trip home by Leo Bestall. Typed extracts from a travel diary dated 1935.
The extract opens with a handwritten introductory note by Leo Bestall dated 5 June 1936. He sent the diary to fellow soldiers and asked for it to be forwarded onto parties who might be interested. A list of recipients has been written on the last page. The trip included England and France. Included in the diary are tourist photographs of the places he visited as well as various war memorials and cemeteries.
b) Accompanying the diary is a letter from Gordon A Boyce to Mr McKenzie, dated 19 September 1951, which states that the diary was found amongst his Minister's belongings. Since Mr McKenzie was the last recorded recipient of the diary he hoped that by sending the diary back to him that it would set it once again on its true course. It is assumed that Mr McKenzie then sent it back to Bestall.
