Brief Description
Handwritten copy of a letter from Mr H H Seager to the three pupils of his architect's office in active service during World War I.
The first page of the letter is on Hurst, Seager and Taylor Architects letterhead dated 22 January 1918. The physical address has been crossed out and replaced with handwritten: The [illegible] Hanmer.
The following pages state that the pupils are always in his thoughts. He states that he spends most of his time in Hanmer, only visiting Christchurch every few months to check on the business. He then talks about current architectural projects including a Māori Hall in Kaiapoi and a boarding house for Christ's College, as well as the activities of people in the firm. The letter continues dated 28 January 1918, where he states that Hanmer is full of soldiers.
A postscript is added in different handwriting thanking the recipients for their letters and wishing them well and signed H H S.
