The book titled: Pākehā Rambles through Māori Lands was written by Lieutenant Colonel St John of the New Zealand Militia.
The first section of the book records the reminiscences of a Waikato flax-trader from 1830, the customs and wars of the Māori and the arrival of the missionaries.
