Brief Description
Eleanore Poley's newspaper scrapbook of Hawke's Bay Tribune and Herald-Tribune.

Eleanore had been connected with both the Hastings and Napier issues of the 'Broadview' and 'Everybody's Weekly' a Napier publication and reported on the Napier social side of the Hawke's Bay Tribune for a year and then several years of free lancing with the Herald-Tribune. The scrapbook contains her newspaper items for the years 1934-1937. In her articles she presented items about social and recreational activities in Napier and Hastings: Club happenings, cookery items, sports items, croquet dances, drama, flower shows, recitals, garden fetes, bowling, Blythe's Ltd and women's cosmetics, Hawke's Bay Museum & Art Gallery fundraising, Napier Townswomen's Guild, dog trials at Taradale, Hawke's Bay Registered Nurses, Napier Red Cross, Masonic Hotel, fashion and fashion parades, Napier Savage Club, dance and dances, balls, the Temperance Movement, the Te Awapuni Māori Institute, Blythes' tearooms.
