Brief Description
Letter sent to the Be Our Guest competition written by Emmilene Tombs (later Emmilene Howell). The letter is a photocopy of a letter Emmilene wrote to her Auntie Evie after the 1931 earthquake and was sent in by her daughter Judith Goldwater.

Emmilene was thirteen and attended Nelson Park School. She remembers the glare of the fires and seeing fish that had been washed up all over the road. She was evacuated to stay with her grandparents in Pahiatua. Included is an information sheet about Emmilene from her daughter Judith Goldwater.
