Entry to the Be Our Guest competition from L P (Pattie) Lloyd about memories of the 1931 Hawke's Bay earthquake.
Pattie's mother was seven months pregnant with Pattie at the time of the earthquake and also had two young boys. They were visiting a friend in Napier, Norah Hayes from Hamilton. Pattie's father was still travelling south to holiday in Napier and was stuck in Waipukurau for two days after the earthquake. The road outside the house they were staying in on Bluff Hill had cracked open and a car was tipped into it.
