Letter to the Be Our Guest competition from Mrs Jessie Guild. She writes of her memories of the 1931 Hawke's Bay earthquake.
Mrs Jessie Guild wrote this letter after reading about the anniversary in the Otago Daily Times newspaper. She had just started school that day but does not remember anything about the earthquake. Her family shifted to the South Island where her father became a rabbiter. Her parents names were Mirella and Joseph Johnson and they had a billiard saloon. Jessie was born in Gisborne and her sister who is two and half years younger was born in Napier.
