Brief Description
Letter to the Be Our Guest competition written by Margaret Brandon. The entry is a copy of Margaret Brandon's letter from the Masonic Hotel Woodville. Written on February 23, 1931, in the aftermath of the Hawke's Bay earthquake.

Margaret was the sister of May Eileen Brandon who died at Napier. May Eileen was found on the footpath just at her office door. No details of where this office was are supplied. She was 20 years old. She was buried privately. Margaret and Eileen's father was the proprietor of the Masonic Hotel in Woodville at the the time of the earthquake. The letter was written to Eileen, Margaret's friend. May Eileen Brandon's cemetery record lists her name as Eileen Mary Brandon.
