About this object
Watercolour on paper depicting the plant Libertia ixioides also known as mikoikoi and tukauki.

The plant has several long narrow tufts of grass-like leaves. A slender brown branch with white flowers is emerging from the centre of the plant. In the bottom left corner are two pencil sketches of flower buds.

On the back he artist has written: A swamp plant flowering about December. North Island, Thames and elsewhere.
