Brief Description
A letter and envelope addressed to Douglas Maclean, from his cousin, D McInnes, Dated 3 November 1884.

a) Letter from D MacInnes, to Douglas Maclean, dated 3 November 1884. The letter reads: My dear Douglas. On re-reading your letter I am reminded that I omitted in my last to give you the information about Lord A's book that you asked. This is to be published on the 7 January by Messrs Blackwood & Sons Edinburgh, price two pounds and ten shillings It contains 18 fine plates, and will be altogether a magnificent book. A deal of work has been expended on it, as I know from my own experience. Weather variable and in the main gloomy and disagreeable. I took a run to Connel to day by train and walked back, gaining a shilling for the Church's School & Burns day fund. I find that a walk into the country once a week does good. I am Your affectionate cousin D MacInnes.

b) Envelope addressed to: Douglas McLean c/o Messrs John Potter & Co, 15 Great St Helens London. It has a Victorian one penny lilac stamp showing a profile portrait of Queen Victoria, circa 1881, franked with the number 273 and postmarked Oban. On the back of the envelope is a red London E.C. postmark.
