Brief Description
Letter from W Kinross White, Napier, to Douglas Maclean, dated 10 October 1884. It is addressed to Douglas McLean Esq, 15 Great St Helens, London E C. The purpose of the letter, from a suggestion of Mr I Guthrie Smith, is to interest Douglas McLean in forming an investment company in connection with New Zealand. Kinross White suggests that it would be of advantage to the province of Hawke's Bay and the colony. He suggests the Directors will be Colonel J L Herrick, C A Fitzroy, Alex McHardy, and John Chambers, as well as McLean himself. He suggests the name: The North British & New Zealand Investment Co L'd. He adds a note at the end of the letter: As usual Maraekakaho has come to the front in the A & P Society's Show; I was over there the other day from Raukawa, & the place was looking most beautiful - only requiring a Master & Mrs to make things complete. Handwritten in black ink on lined white paper, 3 pages, numbered.
