Brief Description
Letter from Bethune and Hunter via Airedale to Donald McLean, Auckland, dated 18 July 1861.

The letter informs Donald McLean that they received his letter from the 6th. In regard to relationships with Māori, they write that they hope he will be successful and save this Province and that of Napier from sharing the sad fate of poor New Plymouth. It goes on to say that after working as many of us have done for upwards of twenty one years, it is rather hard to have all we have acquired placed in jeopardy.
