The information includes, Hawke's Bay villages and towns, distances by sea, fishing and shooting, hints to travellers, how to find the fare, how to use the timetable, hotel and accommodation lists, places of historical interest, Māori antiquities, Kaipara Harbour steamer service, map of the North Island and telegraphic hints.
Interspersed throughout are advertisements from towns throughout the North Island. At the back are a list of the towns with a brief description of each and Māori pronunciation.
