Brief Description
The Ormondville Times was a newspaper handwritten by members of the Webb family.
It is dated 17 Tuesday April, however no year has been recorded.
The first article is untitled and acts as an introduction to the newspaper. It reads: It has been decided to resume the publication of a weekly paper for the house of Webb. Such a paper The Morepork formerly existed, but from various causes the Editor was reluctantly compelled to stop publishing it, as it was not such a success as was hoped. We trust that we may do better with the present venture. A staff of talented writers have been secured, who have promised to contribute both weekly and occasional articles. Our aim is to provide amusement for our younger readers in the shape of puzzles etc. For older readers articles on various topics of interest will appear from time to time.
Other articles include:
Adventures in South Africa by Anthony James Webb
Reproductions of Pluto Land by Alice F Webb
New Zealand Statesmen - Sir Robert Stout by E Webb
There are also articles regarding a fire at Ormondville, a charge of appropriation against an Ormondville teacher, an inspection of the church and Webb house by the Reverend Robertshawe and family and a Mrs Friberg. It is of note that the Reverend gave his opinion that the church was unsafe.
