Brief Description
A receipt and a memorandum to George Preece, Resident Magistrate of Napier from a New Zealand Railways representative of the Napier Department.
Part a - a receipt from the porter in charge at Takapau for 14 shillings and 4 pence received from a Māori person who through a misunderstanding was not passed. The other two cases mentioned namely a charge of 2 shillings and 2 pence from Pakipaki and 1 shilling and 6 pence from Hastings were correctly charged, the Māori not showing any authority for a pass.
Part b - A memorandum asking if a Māori called Hohepa Pura was charged for a ticket. Note on the reverse replying in the negative. Difficult to read the signature.
This is Courthouse number 406/83 with envelope number 26.
