Brief Description
Memorandum to George Preece, Resident Magistrate of Napier from T W Lewis, Under Secretary of the Native Department in Wellington.
Lewis writes regarding a telegram from Mr Tomoana to the Native Minister dated 1 June 1883 and asks for a reply from Preece. This telegram states that in two months all the timber in Otawhao & Whenuahoi will be gone. Tomoana states there are 3 mills run by Europeans that cannot be stopped and that he is restraining local Māori until a case can be made in September against the owners.
