Brief Description
Letters involving George Preece, Resident Magistrate of Napier, Samuel Locke of Napier and Rēnata Kawepō of Ōmāhu.

Part a - Letter from Rēnata Kawepō written in Māori and dated 12 July 1883.

Part b - Translation of letter Rēnata Kawepō. Kawepō writes that he is informing the Government of his expenses upon roads in the Ōmāhu District running to £400.

Part c - Letter from George Preece to Samuel Locke dated 1 September 1883 asking Locke to provide information which he does in a note on the back of the letter. Locke writes that G W Hanly told him that the Port had paid Rēnata through Hanly and that Rēnata's order voucher should show.
