Brief Description
Letter from Hukiera te Maangi of Tahoraiti to George Preece, Resident Magistrate of Napier. Written in Māori. Includes a translation of the letter into English.
a) Letter written in Māori dated 1 February 1883.
b) Translation of the aforementioned letter. Hekiera te Maangi writes regarding payment of £150 for trees destroyed during the creation of the railway line through the area. The author writes that Preece has already given him £140 and that if Preece sends a few shillings for expenses he will collect the money himself.
