Brief Description
Letter written in Māori from Herini Whaanga of Nuhaka to George Preece, Resident Magistrate of Napier. A translation of the letter is also included.
a) Letter written in Māori dated 23 January 1883.
b) Translation of the aforementioned letter. Herini Whaanga asks about Hamana Tiakierai's letter to the Government concerning the reservation of Nuhaka land. Herini Whaanga states that it is not right that Hamana Tiakierai apply to the Government to reserve Nuhaka, but that the application should be from all the chiefs of Nuhaka. He also states that Hamana is not a chief of the area but from Wairoa and therefore has no claim over it.
