Brief Description
Letter from Under Secretary T W Lewis to George Preece, Resident Magistrate of Napier regarding the will of Chief Karaitiana. The author writes of having instructed Mr Kelly to visit Pakowhai in order for him to be present when Mr Sheehan was speaking with local Māori in the capacity of Executor & Trustee under the will of the Chief.
The author also writes the Preece's action was ill-advised in view of the notoriety of the Omaranui (Omarunui) and Waipawa cases and accuses him of being indiscrete with the matter.
