Object detail

Brief Description
A tally of a game animal shoot that is framed with mattboard.

The printed card has columns for 6 categories of animals (each animal is illustrated at the top of its column), then a column for the total. There are rows at correspond to the days.

In the left margin are the dates November 15, 16, 17, 18, 19 and 20 of 1875.

Noted in the right margin are the location names for each day. However, it is not clear if these locations are in England or in New Zealand.

In each row, under each column there is a daily total per animal, with the day's total of all animals noted in the far right row. There is also a note written under each day of the names of the shooters on the team, and how many guns they used.

The very last row is a totals row, which has the totals of each animal killed, alongside the final tally. The final tally of animals killed by this shooter and his various teams totalled 2,336.

On the back is a postage stamp and the names of the two recipients, originally to Mr M Rigglesford from Mr J Ashley Dodd, and then to E A Williams.
