Brief Description
Two page report on Makaretu School issued by the Board of Education in 1885. The report was written by Henry Hill, Inspector of Schools, Hawke's Bay.
The author recounts that although the schools marks are relatively low, the pupils from standard II - IV have been taught practical skills such as accounting, finance, botany and topography. It also states that pupils were required to keep accounts with the headmaster and one such example is given.
