2nd eldest Daughter of Emmanuel and Leah Mendelssohn. Esther (Ettie) was Born: 28/09/1901 Died :1997 aged 96 Address at time of Napier Earthquake 6 Madeira Steps Napier. Number 6 Madeira Steps was owned by Emmanuel and Leah Mendelssohn and their family of 6 children. It was the last house above the cathedral and lower part of town to burn to the ground. Emmanuel and his sons commissioned the house to be rebuilt after the earthquake by L.G.West Son & Hornibrook, REGD Architects, Structural Engineers and Quantity Surveyors Napier & Palmerston North. Emmanuel owned Gamages Dept Store in Napier 68 Emerson Street.
