Brief Description
Album of pen and ink sketches and watercolour paintings by Alfred Chapman.

Sketches of the voyage to New Zealand dated 1849.

Wellington burying ground
Mr Roberts house in Wellington. The English Church is the building on the hill at the back of the high red hotel. Alfred Chapman
Shed in the sheep pen to the right, is the old weigh house for sheep before shearing. The V hut is for men to sleep in. The other is the kitchen. The creek to the left is the boundary of this seen for some distance. The wide river is the Wangakuri which forms boundary between Hargreaves & myself. Some of the wood piled ready for building new shed. A.C.
The farm of where my creek joins the Wangakuri and where they both join the sea. Hargreaves run commences at the shed by the sea on the right. The left side belongs to the Māoris. The centre foreground is intended to reference the end of this run. A.C.

Kairakau
Fredericks drawing of the smallest of the lakes near the house. The white hills at the back are the Ruahine Mt covered with snow 200 or 300 miles from West boundary where Cushing's run joins. The hills on the other side of the water belong to Cushing - a fence runs from lake to lake, which I put up. The cattle are some of ours.
