Newspaper cutting from The Nelson Examiner on 23 February 1864.

The cutting records an excerpt from the Hawke's Bay Herald.

The excerpt is dated 16 January and discusses a sea-fight between two whales which was visible from the Māori pā near Clifton, Cape Kidnappers. The dead whale was brought ashore by local Māori and used for food and oil.
