Brief Description
Account Book of John Hobin No: 2618. The account book has printed pages which detail: general observations; rewards for good conduct; re-enlistment; forfeiture of good conduct pay and distinguishing marks, and of claim to pension; Articles of war; Complaints.

Then there are a few pages for the soldier to fill in personal information. John Hobin enlisted for the East-India Company's Artillery on the 2 April 1851 at Manchester in the County of Lancaster. He embarked for Bombay on the ship 'Bussorah Monhant' on 20 July 1851. Describes his war services 1851-1858. There is an added slip of paper that specifically details his Indian War Services 1857-1858.

There is no back cover, but the flap on the front cover, the natural fold of the document and the ties, indicate that it would have been folded in half itself with the flap closing the gap and then tied shut.
