A PRAYER
For the person thinking about getting baptised.
Oh Jehovah, the Creator of the universe, the Redeemer for all mankind,
here I kneel before you and I belong to you. Here again I pray to you;
although my sins are numerous, allow me to draw close to you, so that I
may be a servant to you. Oh God, wipe clean my sins, the sins of my
childhood and all my sins, my weaknesses, my ignorance, my mischief
doings that have caused shame in my heart. Cleanse me, oh God, in that
Spring of life, you have revealed yourself and made us anew. Oh God,
again I beseech you that you would allow me to enter the church; I am
saying that I will agree with you, so that I may enter unto you and that I may flee far away from the devil in this earthly world; I will continue to worship you and hearken to your laws, and keep on with your sacred customs for all the days of my life. O Jehovah, have mercy and show me your Holy Spirit, that I may think carefully about my words, that I may be truthful with the preparation of these sacred words that I say to you. You, oh God, will seal these things in my heart; lest I forget, one of my sins or some other transgression, have mercy upon me. As for me I will wait upon the Lord in the sanctuary that is the Christ, and I will dwell in the kingdom of heaven. Oh Jehovah, you will guide me there to fulfil the works of my Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
