About this object
A leaflet written in Māori with no heading or date. The small leaflet is constructed in two paragraphs, each followed by a scripture reference. The leaflet contains reflections on the Holy Communion, for intending communicants, concerning the Eucharist.

The first paragraph begins: Me penei ano, e koe. Tirohia tau mahi me tau wakahaere, e rite ana ranei ki ta te wakapono?

The second paragraph begins: E ta, kia kite koe, he mea te Hapa Tapu nei na Te Atua. At the foot of the second paragraph is: Tukua tenei tangata ki roto (allow this person within); and: Na te Koreneho (by Colenso).

It was intended that the leaflet be cut into two parts and be pasted on the front and back of a card.

[22319](1)(1a). Leaflet, Class Ticket; William Colenso (b.1811, d. 1899).
The consonant, “wh”, is written as “w”.

You should do likewise. Look at your works and your intentions, are they
aligned with the faith? Should you have erred, by deed or by word,
well, you ought to repent for your sins and beseech the Lord, and hold fast your heart to do good works there-after. If you have sinned against another, make peace with each other and reconcile, do not wait for another day. Now, if you have sinned as such, turn and listen to the good word of John, “If any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father,
Jesus the Christ the righteous: And he is the propitation for our sins: and
not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.” 1John, 2:1.
Look also at Matthew 11, r. 28, 29.

Sir, you will see, Gods’ holy supper; it will be joyful to him that does right,
and death to him that does not do right. I will make you anew, so that you
may be aware of the importance of things sacred in this place, seek ye,
secure these things in your heart and mind; be not mischief like the masses
rather be good so that you may be a partaker at the feast..
See 1Corinthians, 11, r. 28, 29, 30, 31.
