Kohikohia Nga Maramara o Mataatua. In Ancient Maoriland, was written by Elsdon Best from notes collected from members of the Ngāti Manawa, Ngāti Whare, Tuhoe, Ngāti Apa, Ngāti Awa, Ngāti Hamua and Patuheuheu tribes, living in Rangitaiki Valley, the Urewera Country or from Mataatua.

The booklet recounts how Māori came to New Zealand, Māori customs, spirituality, agriculture etc.
