Object detail

Brief Description
Camille Malfroy, the author of: Geyser-Action at Rotorua, New Zealand, read this paper before the Auckland Institute, 22 June 1891.

Malfroy was the Engineer in Charge of the Government Works at the Sanatorium, Rotorua. After the eruption of Tarawera in 1886 part of his duties were to observe and report on any changes to hot springs and geysers which might have taken place. He deduced that the eruption caused many springs that were considered dead to burst into life as well as changes in thermal action.
