Brief Description
A cardboard folder entitled: Soldier's pay book.
This card folder has a pocket inside the front cover labelled: Soldier's pay book for use on active service.
The booklet attached to the inside of the folder has pages entitled: Instructions to soldier; personal information and wages relating to the owner, 2 Lieutenant John Stainton; promotions and their effective dates and pages of lined entries for cash payments on wages drawn.
There is a page for a Will, though in this case it has not been completed. There are particulars for next-of-kin as well. At the back of the book is a chart showing the condition of the soldier's teeth, though this one has not been completed.
This book was opened on 1 February 1919, though the first entry is for 8 February 1919. The last entry is on 11 November 1919.
