A cardboard folder issued with an attached Soldier's Pay Book.
This card folder has a pocket inside the front cover. This has the phrase Soldier's Pay Book for use on Active Service printed on the front.
The booklet attached to the inside of the folder has pages for: Instructions to Soldier; personal information and wages relating to the owner, Driver John Stainton; his promotions and their effective dates; pages of lined entries for cash payments of wages drawn. There is a page for a Will, though in this case, it has not been completed. There are particulars for his next-of-kin as well.
This book was started on 2 October 1914. The last entry is on 29 May 1916.
