Roll of confirmed list of prisoners of war compiled 13 May 1944 and amended subsequently.
Roll is entitled: PW Section, 2 New Zealand Expeditionary Force, Confirmed PW Roll. In larger letters it reads: Master Copy, Important, Not to be Removed.
The first page is a strength table of confirmed prisoners of war. It is a list which includes the name of the master list where the names were found, the part number of that list, the issue date of that list, and the relevant paragraphs. Then it is noted how many soldiers of different levels are registered as prisoners. The first tally on 26 October 1944 shows 6607 and the final tally on 12 April 1945 shows 6339.
The rest of the pages are an alphabetical listing of the New Zealand prisoners held by the Axis. Most of the names have subsequently been crossed out. These pages include the identification number, rank, surname, initials, and specific part of the corps that they were part of. This is a typed list with occasional handwritten additions.
