Brief Description
A letter and tracings of two maps as follows:

a) Letter written by A G Bagnall to Mr Cook, addressed and dated Mahina Bay, Eastbourne, 9 October 1949. The letter concerns tracings of two maps drawn by William Colenso (referred to as Billy in the letter). The maps were drawn by William Colenso circa 1845.

b) Tracing of a map of Ahuriri: place names listed in Māori. Includes Lake Ahuriri and Napier Island. Māori place names include Ko Kete Keterau; Ko te Pakake; Ko te Taha; Ko te Wanganui oroto; Ko te Koau; Ko te Watau puka; Mataruahou; Ko te Upokopouito; Maraeake; Te Awapuni; Waitani; Tuki tuki; Te Awanga.

c) Tracing of a map of the East Coast with place names listed in Māori. The northernmost point is Te Awapuni. The southernmost point is Waiorongo.
