The Constitution, Rules, and List of Members of the Hawke's Bay Philosophical Institute.

a) Constitution
Summary:
1. For the advancement of Science, Literature and Art
2. New Members proposed and balloted
3. Subscription fee one guinea
4. Life Members ten pounds ten shillings
5. Life subscriptions invested
6. Non-residents may be unanimously voted life members to acknowledge contributions
7. Incorporated societies to have same privileges as this Society
8. One-third of annual income to support local museum or library
9. AGM to be held the first Monday of June each year
10. A council be elected each year at the AGM
11. Vacancies may be filled by Council
12. A Report, and Statement of Funds and Property, Receipts and Expenditure, to be submitted at the AGM
13. Council to conduct and manage affairs of the Society
14. Meetings of council
15. At meetings any resolution must be passed by a majority of members

b) Rules
Summary:
1. At ordinary meetings members may introduce two friends
2. Members desiring to read a paper are to submit request in writing
3. At discussion of papers no person shall speak more than once unless called upon
4. Sessions and General Meetings to be held in Winter

c) Constitution, Rules and List of Members.
Constitution and Rules of the Hawke's Bay Philosophical Institute. The List of Members records the following names: President - J D Ormond, Superintendent; Vice-President - the Right Reverend the Bishop of Waiapu; Council - W Colenso, J M Gibbes, H R Holder, S Locke, J N Smith, W I Spencer, C W F Sturm; Honorary Secretary and Treasurer - W Colenso.
